A few key accessories can really glam up a simple black dress for a fancier event. I love the way you can transform a black dress into so many different outfits. Here are a few ideas for dressing up an LBD for a holiday party.
So here we are, the last day of the 30 for 30 challenge. And I’m going out with a whisper. To be honest, I’m very excited to get back to the rest of my closet. On top of that I went to a clothing swap last night and got a bunch of new stuff as well as clearing out 3 garbage bags full of old stuff. Hooray!
I don’t know why I’ve not worn the tall boots this whole challenge over these grey jeggings. Turns out I quite like them. I am home today with the baby [I spent hours trying to get a nice photo of Zoe for our holiday card, oh my!] so it’s a t shirt kind of day.
I kinda liked the 70s vibe of the colors and the fall leaves just kinda went along with it.
I’m going to do a wrap up of sorts tomorrow, after I’ve sorted out a collage of all my outfits. I will say this: I’m going to continue documenting my wardrobe! I’ve enjoyed it. Just not every day, I’ll be posting the choice outfits maybe once a week. I’ve got to get back to the hair focus of this blog!

Phew! Here we are, almost at the end. Day 29 was a bit of a challenge, as this also happened to be the second day of my TIGI Update. So again, a little more stylish than an average jeans and top kind of Monday.
It also means I can wear shiny leggings during the day. Woohoo! I really love this outfit. It felt stylish, pulled together yet comfortable, and I felt fantastic in it!
That giant slit up the side is the reason I can never wear this dress on it’s own. Many moons ago I may have worn this with velvet shorts underneath, but who’s to say…
I mentioned I always seem to wear these two together, yes? I love the stacked bracelet look. I’m also a huge fan of the black and brown combo! I’ve never worn these leggings with the brown boots. Yay for adventures in fashion!
I’m also really quite pleased with how my hair is looking these days. For a hair dresser to say that is a big deal, we’re always working on the next thing, it seems! I’m happy that the ombre effect in my color is finally more apparent, I think it looks great. You can search through the graphpaperheart.com archives to find many examples of how ombre color can look cool!

As a hair stylist I don’t really have to dress up much. Our salon is beautiful, but laid back. So we can wear t shirts and jeans every day if we’d like. Sometimes this makes for a very lazy Nicole, but the 30 for 30 challenge has helped with that! Today’s look is a little different. Sunday and Monday I had a training workshop with the company I do colour education for, TIGI. So a more professional look is required. Now, hair dressers don’t tend to wear a boring suit or such, but we can get dressy. There always has to be a bit of flair in the look, too.
This is the first time I’ve tried tights with these booties [I bought them right before the 30 for 30] and I think I like it. I also like the striped skirt [last seen on Day 4] with the pattern of the tights. And who doesn’t love a skirt with pockets?!?! The best.
Maybe I’m in a rut with the multi-strand necklaces? I don’t care, I love the way this look came out!

Saturday mornings before work are always a rush. I usually have to be there at 9 am, which means getting up sometimes even before the baby wakes up so I can look cute for a day at the salon. This day felt even more rushed.
I think you might call this slapdash. Probably won’t miss these pants once the 30 for 30 is over, they really are too big for me.
I tried the cuff-above-the-short-boot look with this, I think it worked! I’ll be trying it more with jeans that aren’t super annoying to me [they fit for the first hour you wear them, then stretch out beyond belief.]
I’m loving the accessories today, though.
An oldie but a goodie.
Can’t seem to wear one of these bracelets without the other! As I’m wrapping up the 30 for 30 I know that not every day can be super fantastico wowie, but I think this came off pretty nice in the end.

So today I was home with Zoe. Normally I’d be at work, but I worked Wednesday instead. This means comfortable was the key word for this outfit [I think that word comes up a lot ‘round these parts, but hey, I have a baby, so sue me.] Besides, at least I make an effort to look stylish whilst comfortable!
Been waiting to wear this necklace in the remix, but honestly I should have worn it ages ago. It is the best baby-friendly necklace around! It ties in the back so if it’s pulled too hard it just comes untied [rather than a broken chain] and of course the obvious plush/stuffed factor: it was a big hit with the kid.
I bought it a few years ago at H & M, still loving it.
And this gloriously comfortable/somewhat stylish outfit was only witnessed by the fine people of Whole Foods today. Go me!

With all this black and grey in my wardrobe, I sure am getting a lot of use out of this orange shirt.
Love the way this look turned out, minus the leggings. I think I need a smaller size!
Also I redid the color in my fringe. I was going for a denim blue, because denim goes with everything, right?? Even though it clashes my days of matching my hair to my clothes are long gone!
